Looking back at Spring 2015

This spring, the INSuRE network partners supported 13 student teams at 8 universities: classes were offered at Dakota State University, Iowa State University, Northeastern University, Purdue University, Stevens Institute of Technology, University of California Davis, and University of Texas at Dallas, and a student from Mississippi State University also participated. Students chose their projects from a list of 25 problems contributed by our sponsors, who also furnished technical directors to guide the work at distance.

PI Meeting at Stevens Institute of Technology

Principle Investigators, graduate staff, and project sponsors from most of the INSuRE institutions attended a progress meeting at Stevens Institute of Technology. The institute, which sits on the New Jersey side of the Hudson River, is home to the Davidson Laboratory, a maritime simulation and testing site and one of the two International Historic Mechanical Engineering Landmarks in the U.S. Attendees were given an opportunity to tour this lab, with its 313-foot wave tank, and see graduate student demonstrations of current software and sensor research projects focused on assurance and security on the Hudson River. A Stevens student team also presented on their INSuRE work.

Poster Session at SFS Job Fair

On January 13th, INSuRE students met with employers, recruiters, INSuRE sponsors, and local SFS alumni at an INSuRE poster session and mixer in Washington, D.C. Scheduled at an evening break during the annual SFS Job Fair, the poster session showcased INSuRE student project work from the previous semesters. The mixer provided the opportunity for many students to ask or answer questions about INSuRE work, make connections with peers and mentors, and put faces to voices heard over INSuRE teleconference calls

A New Semester

We're up to speed now in the Fall semester. There are four universities offering INSuRE courses; Purdue, Mississippi State, Iowa State, and Dakota State. We look forward to seeing what kind of interesting research comes from our student groups!

INSuRE had a great Spring 2014

The INSuRE program enjoyed it first successful course offering this past spring semester. We had four institutions participating together: Purdue University, the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, Mississippi State University, and the University of California Davis.

Over the summer months the INSuRE program has grown considerably to include more than ten institutions. Check out the map of institutions. We look forward to the coming fall semester with excitement as to what new findings our students will come up with.
